Zach Westcott joined Mister Tattoo in 2023, bringing over a decade of experience earned across both coasts and everywhere in between. His relationship with the shop — and with owner Travis Costello — goes back further than that, to the years they both spent in Charleston, South Carolina, where they first crossed paths and recognized a shared approach to the craft.

Zach's career spans over a decade and a geography that stretches from coast to coast. He built his craft moving through shops across the country, the kind of journey that demands adaptability and exposes an artist to a wider range of clients, styles, and situations than staying in one place ever could. His time in Charleston was formative in more ways than one — it was there that the connection with Travis formed, eventually leading Zach to settle in Jacksonville.

His work is rooted in American traditional tattooing but it doesn't stop there. Zach's portfolio reflects an illustrative sensibility that builds on the foundational elements of the style and takes them somewhere distinctly his own. Outside the studio, he surfs and skates, and that energy informs his work in ways that are difficult to articulate but easy to see in the portfolio — particularly in his Japanese-influenced pieces involving natural elements, water, and organic forms.

Working with Zach

Walk-in weekends are the norm here — every Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 7pm — and we can usually take walk-ins during the week too, though that varies by the day and the hour. Appointments are the best way to make sure you get Zach and the time you need. Feel free to drop in either way: if there isn't time to tattoo today, you'll get a quick consult and an appointment on the books. For smaller pieces and flash, a walk-in is the right move; for something larger, that in-person consult is where it starts.
